Angelo Henriquez may have failed to make an impression in the Premier League but he has more than found his feet in Croatia. Now at Zagreb permanently after an initial loan deal last season which cultivated 21 goals in 24 league appearances, Henriquez is the man Arsenal should fear.
At 21, his career is very much still ahead of him and seven strikes in 12 games this term suggests a continuation from last season’s breakthrough success. Henriquez’s form was rewarded with a place in Chile’s successful Copa America squad in the summer, with the young forward replacing Eduardo Vargas in extra time in the final against Argentina.
Henriquez was branded a flop in Manchester but was regarded highly during his brief spell with Wigan Athletic. Then Latics captain Emmerson Boyce once said of him:
“He reminded me of a slightly taller version of Philippe Coutinho. He wasn't as strong as Coutinho is now, but he may have filled out and become more powerful since then. It often can happen with young players.”
On his last appearance at the Emirates in 2012 he was part of the Wigan side that were confined to the Championship in a humbling 4-1 defeat. Could his next outing prove a little more memorable?
