| There was no hint of any FA Cup magic or giant-killings on Monday night as Chesterfield hammered FC United of Manchester in the first round. |
It was a nightmare start for FC United, who were only founded 10 years ago, as former Manchester United striker Slyvain Ebanks-Blake ran powerfully towards the touchline before cutting the ball back for Gbolly Ariyibi to score after only six minutes.
Chesterfield doubled their lead on 12 minutes when Lee Novak stabbed in Dan Jones’ cross at the front post with a first-time finish.
It should have been three before the break but Sam Morsy wasted a glorious chance on the break with a poor finish.
With 20 minutes remaining Chesterfield, who sit 78 places above their hosts in the football ladder, grabbed a third when Rai Simons raced away into acres of space to flick the ball over the on-rushing David Carnell.
Ollie Banks grabbed the final goal as the clock edged towards 90 with a long range effort.
FC United did manage to get a goal when Luke Ashworth headed in, but it is the League One side who will face the highest placed side in the second round of the competition,Walsall.
