Anthony Martial has handed Manchester United a major injury scare after leaving Wembley on crutches on Tuesday night. |
The 19-year-old took a knock to his left foot during France's friendly defeat to England and was forced off in the 67th minute.
His foot was heavily bandaged as he departed the stadium on crutches after the game and United boss Louis van Gaal will be anxiously waiting to discover the severity of the injury.
Martial has scored five goals since his big-money move from Monaco in the summer and with United already short of strikers, they cannot afford to lose the £36m man for a long time.
"He's in quite a bit of pain after the match as a result of a play inside the area," France manager Didier Deschamps said.
"It's a knock to the top of his foot."
Martial's injury comes after his United teammate Michael Carrick was carried off on a stretcher during England's 2-0 defeat to Spain last week.
The midfielder suffered an ankle injury and is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the month.
