Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is sweating on the fitness of French defender Mamdou Sakho. 

After losing under Klopp for the first time at home to Crystal Palace - their first defeat since early September - the manager said he was waiting to see the extent of his player's injury. 

Sakho left Anfield on crutches with his right knee in a brace after landing awkwardly in the first half and will have a scan on Monday to determine the seriousness. 

With the forthcoming international break, Sakho has time to regain fitness providing the damage is short term.

"I don't want to speculate now but we have to hope it is not too serious. That was the worse thing," said Klopp.

"I would prefer to lose 4-1 and keep him in the team but it was the situation and now we have to see."
